I was born as a cleft lip and there was a gap in my lips which was stitched when I was six months old. As I was growing up I was quite inquisitive of my lips which was different from the others. Then when I was twelve years old I was referred to the Singapore General Hospital’s dental clinic. Upon seeing my teeth structure I was further referred to a plastic surgeon and this made me really worried and surprised as to what was I doing in this place as there was no scar nor deformity in me for plastic surgery to be done. The plastic surgeon examined all the x-rays and reports of me and gave me a sentence to read. He looked at me and told me to read again and again and he was really shocked as my speech was very clear. He told me that I was cleft lip and that such patients normally have to go for speech therapy, furthermore their nose and lips will all be different from a person who is not a cleft lip, but there was no such problem in my face except for the slight stitches marks on and above my lips. The surgeon was even more amazed when I told him that I have been singing since small. He just could not believe it, but now I knew why I did not have a normal lip and all these meetings with both the dentist and the plastic surgeon made me understand that God had a certain purpose in my life!! I had a slight plastic surgery done and then the surgeon offered to do full cosmetic surgery to totally remove all the stitches marks in my lips, but I refused to go for the operation as this has proven as a testimony to share the miracle that God has done in my life as for medically it is impossible for someone with cleft lip to speak clearly but I even sing and that is only because of my lord and saviour, JESUS CHRIST!!.

The lord has surely done wonders after wonders in my life. I am married to a god fearing man, Joseph Charles and we have a lovely son Joshua. Both my husband and myself run a Christian bookshop; El-Bethel music & books pte.ltd. and I also teach on how to play the keyboard and conduct voice training for good singing and on how to lead in worship. These classes came about as we had a burden to encourage anyone regardless of age and talent, who wanted to do something for the lord. Through these classes we have seen the miraculous works of Jesus, many of them have started playing the keyboard and for those in the vocals class there is a lot of difference in the way they sing and they have learnt to do both singing and playing the keyboard under the guidance of the Holy Spirit!! Not only that, I have personally seen the people being comforted ,encouraged and edified…..WITH GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE!!!
